What better way to start the week...

... than with stream-profiling, outdoors on Monument Creek?

Here is a look at the team at work on a stream profile just north of the Uintah Avenue bridge. The water levels are very low.   And -- very interesting to the geologists among us -- much of the gravel has been transported away, revealing the underlying bedrock of Pierre Shale.

The crew in the fluoro-vests are, from right: Geodesign interns Darryl Filmore, Will Rundquist, and David Sachs. Jonny Norwine, on left,  is a willing geology student who assisted for the day. Seated, on right, is Cyndy Hines, program coordinator for SOTR and Innovation at CC.  Cyndy guided the set-up of the stream profile and shared her knowledge of stream hydrology and riparian systems -- to advance the accumulation of foundational knowledge, observational skills, and investigation methods.
